I don't like greetings which are phrased as questions because I never know what the sociallycorrect response is. They're not REALLY asking you anything, it's just a greeting, all they want is acknowledgement, but how?

"What's up?" and "how's it going?" are easy, you can just say "nothing much" or "I'm all good," something generic, nobody really cares.

But "what do you say?" is meaningless! What do I say? What DO I say? I don't know! What is the expected response? "What's up?" makes sense because they're asking "what is currently happening?" They want you to let them know how your day has been so far in as few words as possible, just a friendly little check in, no big deal, but "what do you say?" has no immediate cop-out answer I can fall back on. First time I heard it I stuttered like an idiot only to be told that the asker didn't think it was that hard of a question, "you don't have to give your life story." That guy was an asshole before and after this greeting, but still, it bugged me.
